On several occasions, particularly on the periphery of the Habsburg Empire during the 17th and 18th centuries, dead people were suspected of being revenants or vampires, and consequently dug up and destroyed. Some contemporary authors named this phenomenon Magia Posthuma. This blog is dedicated to understanding what happened and why.

E-book
I just happened to notice this e-book called Untote und Vampirismus - Mythos und Realität (Undead and vampirism - Myth and Reality) written by Ferdinand Heisig. I don't know anything about the author, but obviously this is a pretty short 'hauptseminararbeit' published last year by the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. At just 13 pages I find that Euro 4,99 may not be worth the contents, but there's an excerpt on the web site. And, of course, the book is in German.

Heisig has also written a little book on freemasons and illuminati called Freimaurer, Illuminaten und Verschwörung. Published in the same series as the vampire book, it seems to be on the theme of conspiracy theories.
