Vampire books keep coming

Here are just two new titles which some may enjoy and some may avoid: The Dead Travel Fast by Eric Nuzum and Celluloid Vampires by Stacey Abbott.

  1. I recently purchased and read a copy of Eric Nuzum's The Dead Travel Fast: Stalking Vampires from Nosferatu to Count Chocula (2007).

It is written in a kind of gonzo journalistic vein, with the author offering his personal reminisces on vampire pop culture...that he attempts to experience first hand: including drinking his own blood.

For the serious vampire scholar though, I can not recommend it. It makes repeated errors, and doesn't offer anything new to the field.

It has its enjoyable moments, but feels rather rushed on the whole.
